Maximum security is a 99 cent app that alerts you if you lay your Ipad down and someone picks it up. The iPad goes nuts vibrating lights flashing and a loud alarm goes off and it can only be turned off by a code. It looks ominous from the start with an area sensor sweeping image.
Mobile me (cheaper through Amazon than the Apple store) tracks down my device via google maps, allows me to post a return for reward number on the lockscreen, emits an audible finder signal and if all else fails I can kill all the data on the device.
You can also insure your device against theft and damage too Square Trade (2 years for drops and spills 95.99) and Worth Ave Group(69.00 a year) offer solutions. Worth Ave group covers cracked screens, theft, vandalism, fire,flood,natural disasters and power surge due to lightning.
Well I'm covered and when the jailbreak comes out there are some really cool hacker protection programs that are stealth and highly effective.
